Why Did I Get a Traffic Fine?
We answer questions such as why a traffic fine was issued, why it is not visible, why it arrived, or how to find out why I received a traffic fine.
Why a traffic fine may have been issued
The main reasons for a traffic fine can generally be grouped under three main points.1- Speed limit violations detected by radar or plate recognition systems.
2- Violations of parking rules, such as illegal parking or parking in disabled zones, identified through camera recordings.
3- Actions that endanger traffic safety such as not wearing a seat belt, using a mobile phone while driving, or running a red light.
Some drivers encounter the issue of “the traffic fine not showing up” because it may take several business days for the fine to be processed in the electronic system. Especially fines detected by mobile radar or automatic camera systems go through an approval process before being transferred to the central database.
Why the traffic fine is not visible or arrived later
The delay in displaying a fine is often due to the processing time and the notification system. e-Government, postal, and police systems are updated at different times. Therefore, even if a fine has been issued, the driver may not be notified until the official notice is delivered. The question why a traffic fine arrived usually arises from an unintentional violation by the driver. For example, rental car use, driving someone else’s vehicle, or license plate confusion may also lead to a recorded fine. In such cases, the driver can check the fine details and photos through e-Government and appeal if necessary. What to do after receiving a traffic fine
1- Check the date, time, and location of the fine via the e-Government platform.
2- Access the details through the General Directorate of Security website using the vehicle’s plate number.
3- If you believe the fine is unjust, apply to the Magistrate’s Court of Criminal Peace.
4- To benefit from an early payment discount, pay within 15 days of receiving the notification.
Situations where the traffic fine is not visible or arrives late should be documented to prevent possible grievances. /
